Brett along side his father, Randy, and Wife, Shawna, have created this team based on three core principles;

From the first time we meet we listen to your ideas to capture your vision, ensuring a home for you and your family to enjoy for generations. Our team, all native to Sarasota County, has over 30 years of combined new construction experience in Sarasota County and the surrounding areas.

Brett Smith, serving as Blue Water Custom Homes’ President, shared a vision with his father, best friend and local builder, Randy Smith. Brett, native to Sarasota County, grew up working on job sites and learning the trades. From a young age, Brett had a vision of creating and developing a team that surpassed all expectations. Brett, having served as a Scout Sniper in the United States Marine Corps, harnessed his leadership skills and his dedication to detail.

Brett oversees day-to-day operations and leads the company’s vision, products and projects. Brett has a detailed and diversified approach to problem solving. His transparency and relationships with both clients and sub-contractors is unparalleled.

Brett’s vision of building a committed team, led to the inception of Blue Water Custom Homes in 2019.

Shawna Smith is both Co-Owner and Director of Operations for Blue Water Custom Homes. She was raised in Sarasota, Florida and is a graduate from University of Virginia.

As a key member of our team, she assumes a strategic role in the overall management of the company. Shawna and her husband, Brett, work hand-in-hand with each client to design their dream home and bring their vision to life. Shawna is also responsible for financial aspects of the company operations including; accounting, financial forecasting, strategic planning, and project budgeting.

Shawna and our team share aligned visions, goals and expectations for Blue Water Custom Homes, always evolving our business practices and enhancing our client and sub-contractor relations.

Randy Smith, serving as Blue Water Custom Homes’ Residential Contractor, has been in new-construction of Residential Homes since 1996.

After serving in Vietnam, in the United States Marine Corps, Randy graduated with his bachelors from University of South Florida. Subsequently, Randy became a Residential Contractor for the State of Florida. His passion remained, and has been crafting exceptionally built homes in Sarasota County and it’s surrounding areas for the past 25 years. While building codes, design-trends and nuances have changed throughout the years, his expectations for our construction process remains the same.

In 2019, Randy joined his son, Brett, with a goal of creating an unparalleled and unrivaled team founded on three core principles; honesty, integrity and commitment. Thus, Blue Water Custom Homes was born.

Wesley Ojeda

Superintendant

Wesley Ojeda, Blue Water Custom Homes' Superintendant, is also a father, son, brother, firefighter, and a highly skilled carpenter.

Wes, as a first responder primarily, has always been passionate about construction. Between shifts at the fire station, Wes began working for the area’s best framing contractors where he quickly became the lead foreman. He thrived here for years up until he began his own successful framing business.

From Blue Water’s conception, Wes has played a pivotal role in its success. Being our sole framing contractor since Blue Water’s inception in 2018, Wes has been a big part of every project Blue Water has crafted.

He has now taken on a larger role here at Blue Water; Wes currently supervises, manages and coordinates all trades ensuring nothing is missed and our homes are built to the quality, standards and details expected of our homes.

We are thrilled to have Wes on our team! His dedication and commitment to the craft will help ensure we continue to create lifelong homes and lifelong relationships.

Collin Pratt

Assistant Superintendent

Collin Pratt, Blue Water Custom Homes' Asssistant Superintendant, served in the United States Marine Corps where he began honing his leadership skills and attention to detail. Subsequently, Collin received a Bachelors degree from the University of Central Florida.

Finding a new passion in the construction industry, and eager to learn and grow, Collin joined Blue Water in early 2022.

Collin is responsible for monitoring, supervising and assisting with the progress of all construction projects. With a diverse role, Collin is required to be skilled, flexible and diligent. He is motivated, hard-working and eager to assist our team whenever and wherever he is needed. Collin has not only a drive to learn but also a drive to improve our current systems. He recommends changes to our construction operations and procedures to increase efficiency, communication and quality of work.

We are thrilled to welcome Collin, a Florida native, to our team! He has already made a massive impact on our team with his attentiveness, communication skills and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
