Team Member Spotlight: Collin Pratt, Blue Water Custom Home’s Site Supervisor, served in the United States Marine Corps where he began honing his leadership skills and attention to detail. Subsequently, Collin received a Bachelors degree from the University of Central Florida. Finding a new passion in the construction industry, and eager to learn and grow, Collin joined Blue Water in early 2022. As site supervisor, Collin is responsible for monitoring, supervising and assisting with the progress of all construction projects. With a diverse role, Collin is required to be skilled, flexible and diligent. He is motivated, hard-working and eager to assist our team whenever and wherever he is needed. Collin has not only a drive to learn but also a drive to improve our current systems. He recommends changes to our construction operations and procedures to increase efficiency, communication and quality of work. We are thrilled to welcome Collin, a Florida native, to our team! He has already made a massive impact on our team with his attentiveness, communication skills and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Cabana Road Update: Here is a recent picture of one of our three ‘Morada homes located on Cabana. All three homes are under contract and were carefully designed together with our clients. E River Rd: This is our client’s custom waterfront dream home. We are eager to see the final product of this luxurious home. Pearl Rd: This is another one of our client’s custom tiny homes coming to completion! We do have a few more ‘Morada (and ‘Morada 2.0) and Boca homes with 2022 expected completion dates that will be available soon!

Team Member Spotlight: Wesley Ojeda, Blue Water Custom Home’s Project Manager, is also a father, son, brother, firefighter, and a highly skilled carpenter. Wes, as a first responder primarily, has always been passionate about construction. Between shifts at the fire station, Wes began working for the area’s best framing contractors where he quickly became the lead foreman. He thrived here for years up until he began his own successful framing business. From Blue Water’s conception, Wes has played a pivotal role in its success. Being our sole framing contractor since Blue Water’s inception in 2018, Wes has been a big part of every project Blue Water has crafted. He has now taken on a larger role here at Blue Water; Wes currently supervises, manages and coordinates all trades ensuring nothing is missed and our homes are built to the quality, standards and details expected of our homes. We are thrilled to have Wes on our team! His dedication and commitment to the craft will help ensure we continue to create lifelong homes and lifelong relationships.

Here are our current Spec homes under construction! We currently have four ‘Morada homes and two Boca homes under construction, with more scheduled to start soon. Three of our ‘Morada homes and one of our Boca homes are already under contract and being designed directly with our clients. All of these homes are purposefully at different phases in construction. We stagger construction start dates to allow our team to schedule accordingly, minimizing delays and ensuring quality work. Even with construction delays currently being an industry norm, our team’s hard work and dedication has kept us on schedule. The first three homes will be completed in May-June, the last three homes will be completed in September. Painting and tile will begin next week! 989 Olympia Rd: A/C, Plumbing and Electric have all been roughed-in. Now it is time for Insualtion and drywall! Roofers are also installing our tan architectural pristine shingle by Atlas. 811 Polaris Rd: The exterior paint, hand-selected by our client, is underway. Additionally, interior floors have been completed. Next, shower tiles, cabinets, interior doors and trim will all be installed. We are excited to see our client’s vision come to realty! We are also expecting to break ground on the pool next week and cannot wait to see the finished product. Kilpatrick Tiny Home: Our client’s slab has been poured and we are now waiting for the concrete to properly cure before block is delivered.

1785 Kilpatrick Road: Another project beginning construction! This is a custom job for one of our clients. Today, we will be digging footers and forming up the house.

Interior is now primed and ready for flooring. 973 Olympia Rd: HVAC, Plumbing, and Electric are all completing there rough ins! 989 Olympia Rd: We are building our load bearing walls and hand setting trusses. We are getting ready to set the large trusses, with a crane, next week.

811 Polaris Road Progress Pictures: It is a busy week at Polaris! John and John Gokey (Father & Son) are stuccoing our exterior walls while another Father & Son pair, Warren and Zach Ziemke, are hanging drywall inside. Our Atlas Pristine Shingles, in Coastal Granite color, were also installed by another family run business, Brian and James Weaver (brothers) with Weaver Roofing.

Polaris Rd Progress Pictures: Roofing underlayment peel & stick, as well aluminum drip edge and PGT Impact Windows and Doors, are installed. Additionally, our interior is roughed in! Next week insulation and drywall will be installed, as well as shingles and stucco!

Progress Pictures: 811 Polaris Rd (First Picture): Wes Ojeda, with Red Hill Carpentry, has set all our trusses! Now, he is running Sub Fascia and installing roof decking. 973 Olympia Rd (Second Picture): Earley Masonry just finished up our block walls. Next, Kimal Lumber will deliver our trusses and lumber. Wes Ojeda, with Red Hill Carpentry, will then set our trusses! 989 Olympia Rd (Third Picture): All Star Plumbing has roughed in all of our drains and waterlines while S&J Southern Concrete has formed up our pad. Next, we will pour the slab this Saturday! Our team is working hard to keep these projects on schedule without sacrificing the quality of our work! We are so thankful for our team’s constant dedication and commitment to these beautiful homes!

Polaris Road Progress Video: Last week, Scott from S & J Southern Concrete completed our slab. These videos show all the phases of concrete, from pouring and screeding to getting floated and troweled. Concrete is most definitely an art! Now, we wait. Waiting for concrete to cure before setting thousands of pounds of block on the slab is crucial to ensure a strong and sturdy foundation!

Polaris Road Progress Picture: Yesterday, Vince and Felix, with All Star Plumbing, roughed in all the necessary drains and waterlines that will be under the concrete slab. Vince has been plumbing in Venice and the surrounding areas since 1981. We are proud to have Vince and his son Felix as a part of our Blue Water team! Next we will prep the pad for concrete, which is scheduled to pour this Saturday!

Polaris Road Progress Video: Today we officially broke ground! Scott Thinnes, with S&J Southern Concrete, laid out, dug the footers and formed up the house. Next, our plumber will install drain lines and required waterlines that will be placed under the concrete slab.

Polaris Road Progress Picture: Today Bob Strayer, with Strayer Surveying, marked the corners of the house and set the elevation of the finished floor. We also had Mark Nery, with Aqua-Pro Drilling, begin drilling our well today. Bob is a Venice Native and has been surveying Venice and the surrounding areas since 1987. Mark is also a Venice Native and has been drilling wells in Sarasota and Charlotte counties for 30 years. We are proud to have both of them as a part of our Blue Water team!

Polaris and Olympia Road Progress Picture: Update on all three of our ‘Morada homes currently beginning construction. Lot preparation is underway. Moore’s Grading has cleared, hauled dirt, and graded all three of these homesite. Next up, we will Survey the corners and elevation of the home, drill the well, complete a compaction test then break ground! More updates to come.

Olympia Road Progress Picture: These two homesites are now cleared. Now we are bringing in dirt in order to bring it up to the necessary elevation. Our sign is from one of our amazing vendors, Dorsett Signs! They have been family owned and operated in Venice since 1978. They are fantastic at what they do and are even better people!

Gopher Tortoises: Even if a burrow looks abandon, we still go the length working directly with Florida Fish and Wildlife to ensure that this endangered Florida Native is not in fact in the burrow before we begin construction on any homesite. And if we do find a tortoise, we safely relocate it to a recipient site where it will thrive! Our environment is important and we are here to protect it, not hinder it!

Olympia Road Progress Video: Today, James Moore is clearing our two Olympia Homesites. Blue Water strives to be environmentally friendly. We replace trees in the final phases of construction to compensate for the ones that must be removed due to infringing on the footprint of the house. We are excited and eager to break ground on these two homesites!

Primrose Road Progress Picture: Today we are handing over the keys of our first ‘Morada Home to our client to enjoy for years to come. We are beyond thrilled with how this home turned out. We strive to not just meet all of our clients wishes and expectations, but surpass them. This isn’t a goodbye, though! We are here to help make our client’s transition into the new home smooth and enjoyable. We pride ourselves on not just building homes, but building lifelong relationships.
